SERRA Portable Sawmills - The Alpina KE 90

A professional electric sawmill for a very reasonable price. Gasoline engine available.

This saw mill gives you the cutting quality of wide blade technology (80 mm = 3-1/8") at a starter price similar to Woodmizers's LT series machines (which uses only 1-1/4" blades). Despite an extremely high EURO cost, and a previous attempt to do the same with the Montana before the crazy currency moves, we are announcing the new Serra Alpina KE 90 saw mill. Wheels are extra. If you need to tow it, you can install your own wheels. When we bring it from Europe, it is compact enough to fit inside one 20 ft container to ship to your doorstep.

The ALPINA KE 90 is an ideal sawmill for anyone looking for a high quality machine that gives excellent cutting quality at a more affordable price. This is partly achieved by using parts of our professional saw milling line. For example, it uses the saw blade wheel assembly from the Montana. The other factor is that the saw is mounted on a stiff but smaller frame.

Cutting length

The Alpina can mill logs as short as 2 feet long. The maximum length is decided at time of order. The base machine can mill 15 ft logs (4.8 m). The machine's wiring will accommodate two 8' (2.5m) extensions, making a 32 ft (9.8 m) total length possible. Should this not be enough, additional 2.5 meter extensions can be added; however, wiring will need to be extended.

Pre-cutter

A carbide tipped circular blade cuts a groove into the bark of the log at the exact height of the saw blade in advance of the blade, eliminating any possible obstruction to the blade. This extends blade edge life to longer runs. The depth of cut is adjustable for thickness of bark. A protective guard prevents operator error.

Blade positioning

Positioning of the blade is very important. Serra Alpina allows exactly that. A digital controller guarantees repeatable cutting height or precise measure. It is easy to use and offers also pre-set cut programs.

Saw blades

The ALPINA KE90 electric sawmill uses wide saw blades, which are taut and firm; they do not waver across the log, but cut in a straight line, yielding higher quality and more valuable wood.

Gasoline Engine

For remote operation, a V2 gasoline engine is availble for the Alpina, delivering a whopping 35 hp in a 1-liter engine.

The alternator powers the feed and the sawblade, and charges the two batteries. Ask us for details.
